The
Philistines have the ark!
This
week, The
Brick Testament is kicking it old school, plunging
head first back into the depths of the Old Testament
to bring you four brand new illustrated stories from
the action-packed book of 1 Samuel. These stories kick
off a new section of the site called King
Saul, and picks up right where we left the Israelites
at the cliffhanger ending to the Book
of Judges. So come on over and find out how the
prophet Samuel was born, and how the ark of the covenant
ended up in the hands of the much maligned Philistines.

Pre-Halloween
neighborhood cleanup
With Halloween just around
the corner, Rev. Smith has taken it upon himself to
become a one-man volunteer neighborhood cleanup crew.
Grabbing a mop, broom, and several large trash bags,
, Smith selflessly got to work while area residents
were away at their jobs. "Sure, it's hard work,"
said Smith. 'You wouldn't believe the stuff I've been
finding: bats, cobwebs, spiders, rats... even what appears
to be human bones. But I'm just driven by the desire
for things to look their best for the big night."
Smith also took time to pull down many sets of Christmas
lights that several area residents seem to have left
up from last year.

Area black man accused of not acting black
Yesterday morning an area
black man was accused of failing to act sufficiently
black. "You are not acting black," said his
accuser, a fellow black man. "You are acting in
a way which is different from and contrary to the way
a black person acts," he added, "leading me
to question if in some way you are not actually a black
person at all, but rather some sort of non-back person
who only appears to be black in the most superficial
of ways."

More
of Jesus's Teachings
Rejoice!
The
Brick Testament website has
been update today with another nine illustrated lessons
from the Teachings
of Jesus. Head on over and learn what Jesus had
to say about such diverse and important topics as World
Peace, Family Values, the Power of Faith, How to Pray,
When to Defend Yourself, and What Happens to People
Who Insult Others. It's a handy-dandy reference for
anyone asking themselves "What the heck would
Jesus do?" And remember, as Christ himself said,
everyone who hears these words of his and does not put
them into practice is like a foolish man!

The Brick
Testament turns 5 today
The Rev. Brendan Powell
Smith's ambitious endeavor to illustrate the entire
Bible in LEGO bricks turns five years old today. Originally
launched in October 2001 with six illustrated stories
from the book of Genesis, the website now includes a
total of 233 stories from 17 books of the Bible, and
has a total of 2,710 illustrations; it's success has
also spawned three
hardcover books published in four
languages. Smith guesses he's "maybe about
halfway done" with the project at this point, and
says he plans to keep at it until he is struck down
by God or ascends directly into heaven.
