The
Speed Contest
This year we managed to capture three out of the four action-oriented
events on film, only omitting the Distance Contest. We begin again with
the speed contest which pits vehicle against vehicle in a "pinewood
derby-style" race to the finish line.
This year, we've altered the
track for the Speed Contest to ensure greater, more reckless speeds --
both halfs of the track have been put at a steep angle.
Contestants line up at the starting gate...
...and they're off!
The increased speeds are cause for greater excitement and more blurry
photos!
(Here an unidentified black smudge races to victory over Sophie's mobile
garden).
Kathy's ball-shaped vehicle proves a viable strategy, and is virtually
topple-proof. Rachel's vehicle moves into an early lead, but can it
stay on track to the finish line?
The feverish speeds prove too much for some of the less sturdy entries.
